Thanks to Richard Rubenstein and family, the Levin Library has received an extraordinary DVD collection that was purchased to honor the memory of Jean Rubenstein. There are full length feature films such as: Fiddler on the Roof, Diary of Anne Frank, Chariots of Fire, Oliver, Biloxi Blues, Driving Miss Daisy, Funny Girl, Ben Hur, and Schindler's List. If you are interested in a lecture series about the Old Testament, the DVD series from Great Courses is just for you. The method of the courses is to discuss especially interesting or prominent passages from a cross-section of the Old Testament, and then use each passage as an example of how to apply a particular method of interpretation to the Bible. Finally, the library is lucky to have DVD's from 7th Art Releasing which distributes award winning films and documentaries shown at film festivals around the country. These include filmes about Jewish history, culture and human rights. Jews and Baseball, The Memory Thief, Farewell to My Country, The Long Way Home, Photographer, The Klezmatics on Holy Ground, and The Nazi Officer's Wife are just a few examples of what are on the shelves of the library. All of these films are available to the congregation for personal use, and the library committee encourages everyone to check this great collection out. Thanks again to the Rubenstein Family for donating this DVD collection to the temple.
