Volunteer Opportunities


Please e-mail the office if you would like more information or would like to volunteer for one of the following committees:

Communications/Marketing - Chairs: Ken Weiner, Ginny Epsten
Charged with improving communications within the Temple membership as well as with the outside Community.  Projects include reviewing the Temple website, newsletter, all current forms of correspondence.  Work as liaison with the Jewish Chronicle and other outside publications.
Committee- Herb Adler

Finance - Chair: Gregg Davidson
Review all financial issues that arise at the Temple such as property and casualty insurance coverage, benefit plans for the staff, audit suggestions and make recommendations to the Board.  Call members who are delinquent on dues and review special dues situations.  Prepare annual budget.

Friends - Chair: Carol Barnett
Plan any social activities to which members will be invited which are NOT covered by other committees, e.g. religious services, scholar in residence, and social action programs. Specifically, coordinate events targeted at new members or general membership retention.

Library - Chairs: Ann Brendle, Judy Fudemberg
Purchase books for the library and encourage the use of the facility during Religious School.

Membership - Chair: Lisa Auer
Work with the Rabbi to interview prospective new members and make recommendation to the Board.
Committee-Tom Barnett

Programming - Chair: Lisa Auer Help the New Reform Temple become a more meaningful part of members' lives. Review current programming and make recommendations for changes. Create surveys and analyze results.

Religious Services - Chairs: Arthur Stern, Paul Uhlmann, III
Responsible for guiding the Rabbi and congregation regarding tone of services and Judaic content.  Approve significant logistical decisions regarding location, scheduling and purpose of religious services.
Committee- Martha Atlas, Tom Barnett, Ann Baum, Bob Epsten, Adele Levi, Jack Mayer, John Starr

Renovations/House- Chairs: Barbara Fleischer, Pam Fleischer
Oversee capital improvements, significant decorating changes and major repairs to the building and grounds.  Approve contractor selection and make recommendations of major expenditures to Finance Committee.

Scholar in Residence - Chair: Joel Resnick
Invite the guest speaker with the help of the Rabbi.  Plan the events for the weekend the Scholar is in Kansas City.  Publicize the events.

Social Action - Chair: Herb Adler
Coordinate community service initiatives for The New Reform Temple and its members.
Committee- Sue McCord Belzer, Ann Brendle, Joyce Fulps, Susan Horowitz, DeeDee King, Lois Lazere, Symie Menitove, Diane Robinson,  Pat Stein, Ken Weiner

Religious School Committee - Chair: Judy Fudemberg
Work with the Religious school Principal to help plan the curriculum, special events, and hire teachers. Help set the direction and tone of the school.
Committee- Donna Holmes, Heather Ream

In addition to the above committees, the Social Action Committee will identify particular opportunities for volunteer service.
